This is a great vineyard - a hillside above the Sevre with a bedrock of orthogneiss and topsoils of clay and gravel mixed with quartz stones. While this wine is lighter in body than the granite or gabbro based wines, it is aromatically extremely pretty and has a shimmering mineral character making it a superb accompaniment to a mild-flavored fish preparation. Lemon, almond, stone and truffle aromas and stony anise-tinged flavors on the palate. Decant this beautiful wine if drinking young, as it needs to open up. Peak drinking is at 5 to 15 years of age, I think. Landron has been organic since the 1990's and his wines taste of the earth...
