This delightfully herbal liquor is a true relic of an age past. It is distilled in the French Alps by Carthusian Monks and aged for five years in oak barrels. The mysterious recipe, still used today, dates back to 1737. The recipe is a blend of 130 herbs guarded by three monks who each individually only know one third of the blend. When poured into a glass, one will immediately notice the lively green color. This hue is achieved without any artificial coloring agents and is the inspiration for the color known as the same name. Even at 110 proof, this spirit is refreshing and complex. Flavors of anise, lime, and a whole plethora of herbs expand on the palate. JR
